From Plant to Purpose: Grade 7’s Eye-Opening Service Nepal Journey in Takure

From learning about the various plants and their uses around Takure village to mixing cement with dirt, the 7th-grade Service Nepal Trip was an eye-opening experience. Our 7th graders picked coffee cherries, washed them, and learned about the process of bringing that plant into our cups. We also mixed dirt and soil with cement to make a communal resting area for the ones living there. We were surrounded by beautiful nature, and the nightly sound of the crickets lulled us all to sleep. Sleeping in tents–especially during heavy rain–was not very easy, but our 7th graders persevered and tackled the challenges ahead of them. We are thankful to the local people who kindly and excitedly shared their knowledge with all of us.
