Today Grade 1 visited Chobar Gorge and Taudaha Lake on a Nepali Studies field trip about their unit on “Legends of the Kathmandu Valley.” Students saw where the water was drained (according to legend) from a large lake and made to flow to the South, creating a hospitable home in the Valley. Students also explored the topography and the variety of landforms in our host country.
We got some exercise hiking down to see Manjushree’s cave at the gorge and played on the rocks. Then we enjoyed a picnic lunch near Taudaha Lake, which is where the serpents live in the legend. We even fed some fish on the way out!
