Connecting Through Art: 8th Grade’s Service Nepal Journey in Chitlang

The 8th-grade Service Nepal trip to Chitlang was a wonderful experience.  The essential question of how Art connects us was realized in two very distinct ways.  Under the supportive mentoring of our partners from Srijanalaya, our students learned how to become engaged art teachers for local children in two different village schools.  The grade 8 students were also guided towards becoming effective ‘nature’ artists themselves, using collected items from our walks as their medium of expression.  Our trip was a rather physical one, with daily two-hour walks and the 3.5-hour hikes both down into the valley from the Chandragiri Cable Cars and then back up again!
