SAISA Girls’ Football Battles to Bronze in the Heat of Mumbai!
MUMBAI, India. — The SAISA Girls’ Football team traveled to a hot and humid Mumbai last week with water bottles in hand. The girls kicked off the tournament with a 4-0 win and then equalized in the dying moments of their second match to tie the host school 1-1. The Snow Leopards then lost a tight game to defending champions and eventual winners, TAISM, but still qualified for the semi-finals by finishing second in their group. In the semis, the girls lost a heartbreaker to the AISD Tigers, who scored off the post in the last minute of their match. However, the girls showed great character to come through the Bronze Medal match with a strong effort, eventually winning on penalties against the Overseas School of Colombo. This amazing team of young women battled their way through 3 days and 5 games to bring home the third place trophy! Congratulations, ladies!
