Faculty Spotlight: Mr. Doug Sirkka
Director of Educational Technology, Doug Sirkka, brings extensive experience and talent to Lincoln. He started his career teaching chemistry, before getting his master’s degree in Educational Technology. In addition to his skills in science and tech, Doug is a musician who plays the guitar. “I also took up drumming during the pandemic and it really helped with my all-around musical understanding,” he shared. Originally from Canada, Doug moved to Nepal with his wife, Cara, and three children, after 22 years in Japan. “Quite a stark contrast!” he stated. Doug was impressed with the welcoming transition to Lincoln, for both himself and his children. “As a parent, I was so happy with the support and understanding my kids received from teachers,” he said, “especially during the pandemic.” Doug’s favorite things about being an international teacher are the comprehensive opportunities available. “There are clubs and ASAs like Robotics, Debate, MUN, and Baseball,” he mentioned. “Also, the ability to travel and to work with like-minded people and people from diverse backgrounds.” Doug is inspired by his friends and family, both in his work and personal life. “They help me to keep trying to be a better person each day.” We are excited to have Doug’s well-rounded expertise in the Lincoln community!
