Week 1 Update
It was a wonderful first week of school with all the Primary 1 and Grade 1 kids. They all did a fantastic job transitioning back into the school routine.
This week the kids learned that they are all readers. We talked about how there are three ways you can read a book. The first way is to read the words and the second is to read the pictures. Next week, we will talk about the third way to read a book (retell or summarize the story). The kids explored the class library and read books independently and with a partner. Listening to them read is so much fun!
Our first writing session was a huge success. The kids focused on telling about something they love. Pictures were drawn, labels were added, and stories were told. They were so proud of their work and shared it with their classmates.
An introduction to math began with creating graphs. We graphed the class birthdays and age. We also had fun with measurement, by measuring our heights. The kids are excited to watch how they grow over the year.
Please remember to send your son/daughter to school on Monday with their yellow folder.
Just a reminder that the Back to School Night is on Tuesday, August 21.
Ms. Brydie sent an email that swimming starts next week. Please take some time this weekend to practice changing for swimming, as putting on a swimsuit and then changing back into clothes after swimming can sometimes be challenging.
Finally, if you have yet to send the forms back with your son/daughter, please do so on Monday.
