Week 2 Update

Good afternoon,

The classroom was buzzing this week! The kids were extremely productive in reading, writing, and math. They have worked independently and collaboratively in small groups to accomplish different tasks.

This week the readers were introduced to their reading notebooks. They will use these notebooks as they learn to read more challenging books on their own and with a partner.

As writers, they are learning the early stages of the writing process. To think about something they want to tell or teach others, draw a picture, label the picture, then write. They are learning how to plan before beginning to write by touching their pages and talking about each page.

In math, the Primary 1’s have been exploring shapes and pattern blocks, counting, and measurement. In your son/daughter’s Take Home folder, there is a note explaining and introducing the first unit in math as well as some activities you can do at home to support his/her learning.

Please remember to order your son/daughter’s snack/lunch, if they receive snack/lunch from the canteen.
