This week: Assessments and Rules
While the first week was all about getting to know one another and remembering what school was like after having a great summer off, this week was all about the beginning of the year assessment and going over the rules of living in a learning community.
Assessments
Students have completed a beginning of the year math and writing assessments. We continue to work on our reading assessments. We even have finished a reading and writing survey. All of these beginning of the year assessments are designed to let me get to know your child as a learner so that I can meet your child where he/she is and help them move forward with their learning. If there is anything you would like me to know about your child as a learner, please feel free to drop me a not or schedule an appointment to come in for a chat.
Reminders (Rules)
This week we spent two of our social studies periods working on our classroom rules/agreements/social responsibilities. What the class in Grade 2 this year like to call reminders for a safe and caring classroom environment. Ensuring that our classroom is an environment where learning can take place while exploring the balance between responsibility with freedoms of choice. You will be able to see the results of our initial work on Tuesday at parent night.
