Week 3 Update
Good afternoon,
Another wonderful week of getting to know each other, the routines, and the school. We discussed, practiced, and discussed some more about our emergency procedures. The kids heard the fire and stand fast sirens and understood that there is no siren for an earthquake. They realize that we practice so that we are prepared for possible emergency situations.
Please remember to place all of your son/daughter’s swimming gear in a separate bag so that it is kept organized and lessens the chance of things getting lost/mixed up with others.
The Primary 1 readers have learned how to share “Wow” pages with their reading partner. These are pages that caught his/her interest during independent reading. The readers also learned that rereading a book is ok because sometimes we will see things that we missed the first time.
Writing is a time where the kids get to share about themselves, as we are working on narratives. The Primary 1 writers have been working on drawing pictures to express their thoughts with labels and writing some words. They have learned to be independent by writing the whole time. They know that “when they are done, they have just begun.” Which means when they feel they are finished one writing piece, they start a new one without asking anyone.
Primary 1 has been working on numbers 0-5 this week, as they were introduced to the number of the day.
