Week 16 Update
The field trip to the Garden of Dreams was a lot of fun. The kids explored the area with their magnifying glasses. They noticed how flowers consist of many colors and that small bugs can be found on them. They also looked for shapes in real life and noticed how the walking path was made of rectangular or square bricks. They noticed circular objects in the pond and that leaves can look like a triangle.
In reading this week, the kids shared their favorite or most used superpower while reading. They practiced hunting for snap words in their books. They practiced book talks with a partner. Finally, they all practiced making predictions in a text while listening to a story.
In writing, the kids are working on adding story language to help clarify the beginning, middle, and end of their stories. They are using transition words like first, next, then, finally. They have been working with a partner to give compliments and suggestions on how to make their writing easier to read.
In math, the kids have been writing addition sentences, solving number stories, representing the number 20 in different ways on a double ten-frame, and finally making chains to represent a number between 11-19.
In science, the kids continue to discuss and explore different animals.
In social studies, the kids explored maps and globes. They are very excited and curious. They asked many questions about both.
